Abstract

Technology provides the ability to combine graphic, geometric, numerical and symbolic representations of a mathematical concept. These dynamically linked representations help students to see connections and build understanding, they are teaching and learning tools to get
a better understanding of mathematical concepts.

The educational and didactical value, exploring multiple representations of a mathematical problem or concept, will be shown through concrete examples at secondary school level for linear algebra, calculus and statistics.

During the workshop, the examples will be explored using the document based TI-Nspire CX CAS handheld Technology, without assuming a prior knowledge of this technology. It gives students the possibility to save their reasoning when trying to solve a problem or to build a mathematical model, and to reflect back to the problem.
