Abstract
It is all too often the case that we present concepts in mathematics without enriching students by exposing them to the concepts’ proper background. This is the case with the ubiquitous number represented by the Greek letter π. In the United States dates are written in the order of month, day, and year. Therefore, on March 14 each year schools across the United States celebrate π day.
